Sandler stars as Sonny Koufax, a perpetual adolescent (in his early thirties) whose girlfriend dumps him because he has no goals in live, and does not take responsibility for anything, or for that matter take anything seriously. Suddenly, the child of his roommate turns up on his doorstep (while his roommate is out of the country) and Sonny decides to take the child into his care to show his girlfriend he is capable of being responsible. While being a rotten parent, he not only does not impress his girlfriend favorable, he also gets into trouble with Children's Social Services. By the end of the movie, however, Sonny is not the only adult to learn a lesson or two.
 I am not a big fan of Adam Sandler's brand of humor, but if you are you will probably enjoy this movie. And if you are not, it still has its strong points. Cole and Dylan Sprouse also do a great job as the five year old child.
